01

Define the task before the tool

Describe the input, the action, and the expected output. A workflow is easier to automate when the team agrees how it should work manually.

02

Check the data and permissions

Identify the systems and information required. Confirm access, consent where relevant, and which data should be restricted. Only connect information needed for the task.

03

Design the human handoff

Identify decisions that require judgment, unclear requests, and failed steps. Decide who receives those exceptions and what context they need to resolve them.

04

Plan how you will observe it

Agree how to check successful runs and failures. Test representative situations before launch, then assign responsibility for monitoring and ongoing changes.
